PHILOSOPHY OF GARUDA WISNU KENCANA

In the angle of Balinese art and cultural, Garuda Wisnu Kencana is being as a media of Balinese Hinduism to communicate to the God which is implemented as a dedication. With its figure, Garuda Wisnu Kencana symbolized the meanings separately and integrated to become a masterpiece for initiating of the salvation of the world.

The development of the human cultural civilization over the past century appears to have led towards destruction of the human environment. As the door closes on the 20th century, concern of environmental destruction increases, in view of its accumulative effect on the global ecosystem.

The Mandala Garuda Wisnu Kencana centers on the symbolism of the Garuda Wisnu figure, in which Garuda stands for devotion and liberty, and God Wisnu is the preserver of universal equilibrium.

Taking off form this fundamental understanding, GWK marks the year of 2000 as the beginning of the era of ecological salvation and conservation in the broadest sense.
